Roads and road traffic negatively impact reptiles and amphibians directly via road mortality and reduced population connectivity, and indirectly by causing habitat loss, habitat degradation, and an increase in access to populations by people. The Roads Working Group was formed at the 2007 NEPARC meeting. This is the regional component of the national PARC Roads Task Force. A Road Salt Bibliography was recently completed and is available below. At present the Roads Working Group is developing a guidance document focused on how to better facilitate turtle passage with respect to road projects. The document is entitled; Guidance for Turtle Road Passage Design hope to have it available this winter.
